Description:

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Radio Series (A Fan Restoration) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a science fiction comedy radio series written by Douglas Adams (with some material in the first series provided by John Lloyd). It was originally broadcast in the UK by BBC Radio 4 from March 1978 to April 2018. There have been multiple releases and different versions including a remake of the first series for vinyl record, remasters of the first two series and 5.1 surround mixes of the third, fourth and fifth series. This torrent collects all of these and also contains my restorations of the Primary, Quandary and Quintessential Phases. VOLUME ONE: The Primary Phase: Special Edition (with restored scenes) The Secondary Phase: Special Edition The Tertiary Phase: Extended CD Versions The Quandary Phase: Extended CD Versions (with restored music) The Quintessential Phase: Extended CD Versions (with restored music) Special editions of the Primary and Secondary Phases were given "a thorough clean-up and remaster" by Dirk Maggs. This includes using a new Philip Pope version of the theme tune and correcting a speed/pitch error from the old CDs. Note 1: Fit the First on the special edition CDs was missing a couple of lines of dialogue from Arthur Dent after the end credits which is corrected here. The source for the missing lines was the old CD version, which I pitch corrected and mixed in. Note 2: Fit the Third's missing scene on the surface of Magrathea is also restored. The source for this missing scene was the highest quality steam from the recent rebroadcast by the BBC. It was broadcast at 320kbps m4a. I pitch corrected it to match the special editions and mixed it back in. Note 3: The Quandary and Quntessential Phases have had the original Eagles version of the theme music restored so they more closely match the Tertiary Phase. The source for this was the highest quality steam from the recent rebroadcast by the BBC. It was broadcast at 320kbps m4a. VOLUME TWO: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy vinyl album & The Restaurant at the End of the Universe vinyl album. These versions were re-recorded with new, original music and a slighly modified script in order to avoid prosecution under the incomprehensibly torturous Galactic Copyright Laws. As these have never had a digital release, they are needle-drop captures from vinyl and so have some hum and clicks, but they do not skip. They are not my rips. They're okay, but they smell a bit. VOLUME THREE: Hitchhiker's Guide the 5.1 Mixes A bit of a rarity this, the shorter (28 minute broadcast) versions of the Tertiary, Quandary and Quintessential Phases that were made availible for streaming on the BBC website in 2004/5. The BBC skimped on the bitrate back then, but still listenable & fun for the surround effects. VOLUME FOUR: The Hitchhiker's Guide Radio Show: Live A recording of the stage tour in 2012. Guest starring Monty Python's Terry Jones as the voice of The Book. VOLUME FIVE: Hitchhiker's Guide Radio Documentaries 1. The Guide to 20 Years' Hitch-hiking (20th anniversary documentary) 2. Douglas Adams Interview (20th anniversary documentary) 3. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish (A celebration of the life of Douglas Adams) 4. Don't Panic: It's The Douglas Adams Papers (40th anniversary documentary) VOLUME SIX: The Hexagonal Phase: Extended CD Versions Lastly and very much leastly, The Hexagonal Phase, based on 'And Another Thing...' by Eoin Colfer, with additional unpublished material by Douglas Adams.
